About GlanceDesk Compute
GlanceDesk Compute is a free hub of checked engineering calculators for every branch of engineering, starting with civil, electrical and HVAC: one tool per page, an instant answer, and the working shown, with the standard, government or university source it comes from. It is part of GlanceDesk, a family of practical tools that also includes GlanceDesk Calculators, GlanceDesk Jurisdiction and GlanceDesk Crypto.
What you get
- An answer as you type, with no button to press and no sign-up.
- Ask in plain words, such as "10 kw to amps 230 v", and the right tool answers.
- The formula, a worked example and the source on every page, plus one plain sentence that explains your result.
- Metric and imperial units, and numbers read and shown the way you write them, whatever your country.
- English, Urdu and Arabic, with light and dark mode.
How we check our tools
Every tool on this site is a working calculator, not an article. Before any tool goes live:
- Its formula comes from a named, linked source that we have read, such as a published standard, a government manual or a university textbook, shown on the page.
- It passes a set of test cases worked out by hand or taken from the source. The site runs 36 calculation tests across 5 tools, plus checks on every translation and on Ask, and a release is blocked if any one fails.
- The worked example on each page is produced by the same code you use, so the example and the tool can never disagree.
- Each page shows the date its formula was last checked. Figures that are common practice rather than a standard are labelled so and can be changed.
What these tools are not
They are for planning, estimating and learning. They are not a structural, electrical or mechanical design, not a check against your local building or electrical code, and not a substitute for a qualified engineer. We do not publish life-critical calculations.
Your privacy
Your numbers stay in your browser. The maths runs on your device, and nothing you type, in a tool or in Ask, is sent to us or stored. There is no sign-up and no account.
Languages
Tools are written in English first, and the English page is the reference version. The Urdu and Arabic versions follow the standard wording Google uses for each language (Urdu as used in Pakistan, Modern Standard Arabic), with technical terms as used in standards and textbooks. Every language uses exactly the same tested maths and figures as the English page. If a word reads wrongly, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it.
